World Digital Preservation Day
On 6 November, the global community marks World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD 2025). This year’s theme — “Why Preserve?” — invites us to re-evaluate the enduring value of digital content and our responsibility to ensure its accessibility in the future. Discussions focus on how to clearly articulate the importance of digital preservation and which practical approaches to adopt when archiving podcasts, VR experiences, 3D files, and social media content. Significant attention is given to applications of artificial intelligence and to cybersecurity, as well as to trust-ensuring standards and certification. Because what we create today must remain accessible tomorrow.
