Edita Buzėnienė, Chair of the Board of the Lithuanian American Community, and Dalia Asanavičiūtė-Gružauskienė, Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, visited the Lithuanian Central State Archives.
On July 29, 2025, the Lithuanian Central State Archives welcomed Edita Buzėnienė, Chair of the Board of the Lithuanian American Community, along with Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Asanavičiūtė-Gružauskienė, her advisor, and an intern.
During the visit, the guests were introduced to the activities of the Archives, with particular attention given to the preservation and management of documents related to the Lithuanian diaspora. Deputy Director Sigita Baranauskienė, together with the Archives’ specialists, provided an overview of the lifecycle of archival materials—ranging from written documents, audio recordings, and film reels to photographic records—explaining the processes of acquisition, cataloguing, public access, encryption, and storage in purpose-built repositories. The specialists also presented the work done in the fields of document restoration, digitization, and other essential archival functions.
The meeting included a discussion on the significance of preserving the historical memory of the Lithuanian diaspora and its importance for Lithuania. The visit served not only as an opportunity to showcase the work of the Archives but also to strengthen the connection between Lithuania and the Lithuanian American Community.
