Artist Vaclovas Kosciuška was born on January 11, 1911. He began his first steps in art creation in Vilnius, at the art studio of Vytautas Kairiūkštis. From 1929 to 1935, he studied at the Kaunas School of Art, where he studied fresco under J. Mikėnas and decorative art under V. Didžiokas. From 1937 to 1940, he studied painting in Paris. Later, having settled in Vilnius, V. Kosciuška illustrated children's literature, created ex-librises, medals, scenography, painted landscapes, portraits, depicted battle scenes, etc. He taught at the Vilnius State Art Institute and later headed the art studio at the Department of Aesthetic Education at Vilnius University, and worked at the Art Combine in Vilnius. The artist passed away on November 1, 1984, in Vilnius.
